Hi, I'm Jane

I'm a Product Designer and U.S. Coast Guard veteran completing my Master's in Human-Computer Interaction + Design at the University of Washington. My 20-year career was spent solving high-stakes design problems before I knew to call them that — from redesigning cockpit interaction models for a fleet-wide helicopter transition to improving enterprise user flows for 4,000+ users. I'm drawn to complex systems where clarity and empathy in design have real consequences. When I'm not at my desk, I'm swimming, biking, running — or roaming the country with my husband, Dave, and our dog, Arlo.

My Story
For more than 20 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, I worked in environments where clarity, trust in information, and human-centered decisions were essential. As a helicopter pilot and national defense leader, I learned to stay calm under pressure, simplify complex situations, and design workflows that helped people act quickly and confidently when every second mattered.
That experience shaped how I think as a designer today. I’m drawn to building digital experiences that feel intuitive, supportive, and clear — especially in moments when users are managing complexity, uncertainty, or stress. I believe the best design works quietly in the background, giving people exactly what they need to stay focused and act with confidence.
Now I'm bringing that operational mindset to product design - applying the same structured problem-solving, user empathy, and bias toward clarity that guided high-stakes decisions in the field.
